Advanced Botox & Dysport Wrinkle Injection Techniques
Eyebrow Lift. Many people don’t know Botox and Dysport can lift the outer edges of the eyebrows up a little--anywhere from 1 to 3 millimeters up--for a stunningly gorgeous feminine frame for the outer corner of your eyes. The way it works is that Botox and Dysport relax muscles and while most muscles of the face droop lower when relaxed, the orbicularis oculi muscle of the eye closes the eyes when contracted—and hence opens the eyes when relaxed! The amount is unpredictable, but usually remains consistent for each individual for each treatment with an expert injector. Just ask for it if you want to try it!
Eyebrow. Remember that injecting forehead wrinkles too low just over the eyebrow relaxes the occipital-frontalis (forehead) muscle, which we flex to raise our eyebrows. Relaxation will cause your eyebrows to droop lower when treated with Botox or Dysport creating a “cave man” Neanderthal effect and the skin droop can affect your make-up application below the eyebrow and above the upper eyelid.
Eyelid Droop. Injection over the middle portion of the eyebrow--just above the eyebrow--tends to drift downwards into the muscle below which raises the upper eyelid, the levator palpebral superioris, which then relaxes the upper eyelid to cause a true eyelid droop. You can tell if an eyelid is truly drooping by looking carefully at the colored part of the eye, the iris, and comparing precisely how much of the upper eyelid covers it. If more of the iris is proportionally covered, then it is a true eyelid droop. Consequently, we recommend injecting no lower than 1-2 centimeters above this area as a precaution to prevent this because it is usually is not reversible until Botox or Dysport wears off about 4 months later.
